Summer Camps
In the Summer of 2023, we initiated and led our first summer camp, which had 29 participants. Throughout the nearly two-month preparation process, the volunteers carefully planned, modified and experimented with every detail from scratch to ensure the successful launch of this event.

Reading activities
In 2023, the number of our members reached 48. We added more activity groups. To improve the quality of reading activities, we collected feedback from participants and their parents, improved the activity model, increasing writing content and extending the activity time.
Also, the library has opened online activities, providing children with high-quality English content through the Cassin platform, allowing participants to enjoy our services without geographical restrictions.
In 2023, we hosted an average of 7 activities per week, with a total of 400+ activities, totaling 600+ hours and 2000+ times participated in 2023.
First Anniversary
“(My child’s) recent English writing assignment in junior high school was praised by the school teacher and was shared with the whole class as a better assignment. Thank you volunteers of Xiaozhen Library, you are great!”
A member’s parent
As our library turned one year old, we celebrated our first anniversary to thank our members, whom DCB’s Head of College Mr Anthony Coles was also invited. We had a musical performance, organized a prize draw and issued reading certificates to our members, including those who participated in our Summer Reading Challenge, to celebrate their growth in English and devotion to our reading sessions.
PIONEERING SPIRIT GRANT RECEIVED
The library has won seed funding from Education in Motion’s (EiM) Pioneering Spirit Grant (PSG) Programme. “The EiM PSG Programme nurtures opportunities to pioneer new ideas and practices and seeks to champion a culture of innovation and sustainability by promoting, fostering and recognising student entrepreneurship and innovative approaches.” Thank you to EiM for your support!
As our volunteer expresses, “Receiving the grant was important for the library. It was awesome for an organization to tell us that we were on the right track.”

Donations
We are a non-profit organization. All profits will be reinvested to the library or donated to other charitys.
Together with Universal Accessibility of DCB, we donated ¥11,000 RMB to Dew Drops, a non-profit organization helping orphans and children from poor families, to cover the cost of a child’s surgery.
We also donated 7,500 RMB to Hope for Pearl Project, a project supporting students for their education. By donating our profit, we hope to use our power to make a positive impact in the world, helping real people live a better life.

Book Donations
We donated over 500 Chinese children’s books in cooperation with Star Youth Development Center and with the help of Dulwich College Beijing to the Yao Wang primary school in Suoluo County, Gansu Province. Many of our books donated are from the Dulwich College Beijing community. Here we would like to appreciate the kindness of those who donated!
Collaborating with the same charity group, we have recorded videos of our volunteers reading aloud children’s books in English and Chinese translation, hoping to promote children’s initiation into learning the English and inspire a love of reading. Those videos are played by schools in rural areas.
